EUGEMOT ORPHANAGE is a non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered in Ghana. The Orphanage received its certificate of incorporation in June 2000 and a certificate to commence operation in Ghana as an NGO in January, 2004 EUGEMOT ORPHANAGE is a non-profit organization. The idea of establishing this Orphanage was conceived by the founder, Madam Eugenia Kahu Motogbe, five years ago. It was a divine call from God.

Mama Eugenia has been caring for a lot of children especially the needy, some of which lived with her in small home in Accra (capital of Ghana). She cared for some of them till they attained the majority age. It is this vision and her desire to help children who unfortunately are not privileged to have parental care that the idea of establishing an Orphanage was conceived.  Eugemot Orphanage therefore was established and has as its main focus, the rendering of selfless social service to humanity and mankind, specifically orphans and the needy children.

 

VISION

  •  To create the awareness of the problems of orphans and the needy children for the rich in the society to support them.

  •  To create job opportunities for widows and needy children parents by establishing farms and the creating of other   income generating activities.

  • To intensify education on the prevention of HIV/AIDS in the communities that it shall operate.

  • To educate parents in the eradication of child labour in the society and provide rehabilitation to those young boys and girls who are victims of in child labor

 

 AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  • To operate an orphanage home and provide formal education to orphans and needy children from the nursery and the kindergarten levels to the primary school stage.
     

  • To establish a hospital in the locality to serve the health needs of the children and people in general in the            surrounding towns and villages where access to health facilities is very difficult and expensive.    
     

  • To provide the opportunity for exchange programmes mainly for international social worker volunteers, who would like to work in Ghana especially at the Eugemot Orphanage Home and also our volunteers who are desirous in getting basic practical training in running orphanage homes.
     

  • To provide the opportunity for married couples who need to adopt children
     

  • To identify and care for orphans and other needy children who are HIV positive.
     

  • To use the Orphanage as a contribution to poverty alleviation by creating jobs and introducing various workshops particularly training programmes in agriculture for farmers and prospective young people in the locality or the surrounding towns and villages.

     

MODE OF SELECTION OF CHILDREN

The selection of the children fall under the following categories:

 FULL ORPHANS
These are children whose parents are both deceased.

SEMI-ORPHANS
These are children who have lost one parent and who are unable to provide food, shelter and clothing for them

CHILDREN OF UNSUPPORTIVE PARENTS
These are children of parents who have terminal sickness and are unable to support the children.

 

 LOCATION

The Eugemot Orphanage is located in a small town, about nine kilometers to Hohoe (the district capital of Hohoe District of the Volta Region of Ghana), about 180 kilometers from Accra; the capital of Ghana. Its location is very accessible as it is along the main Accra-Hohoe highway. Public transportation to the home is also very easy and affordable.
